GRAND VIN DE BOURGOGNE

PLUS PETIT MONOPOLE DE LA CÔTE DE BEAUNE

L’aventure des Riames

Our family’s move to Burgundy began to take shape in 2009, when we had the opportunity to acquire some plots of vines in Auxey-Duresses, including Les Riames.

The magic of this “climate” enveloped us. Its aspect, the softness of the landscape, the steepness of the slopes, the fine nature of the soil opened up an immense range of possibilities.

Le travail dans la vigne…

Before we had them replanted in 2010, the vineyards at Les Riames had been abandoned since the 1930s due to phylloxera; they thus represent a jewel whose soil has not been polluted by chemicals or compacted by machinery.

This explains the close attention that we pay to the land, which is worked with horses, to the natural cycles that shape our interventions and to the use of sulphur and copper, which we keep to a minimum.

… et en cave

This quest for a light-touch approach continues in the pressing, which is slow and gentle, and in the aging, which is long and with little oak, so that each vintage can express itself to the fullest.

Une belle émotion

With Les Riames 2016. A bouquet with mineral notes, like a gentle caress; a beautiful floating lightness; brilliant clarity; rigorous precision. A wine that offers itself up in the mouth with no detours or obstacles and which, even a few days after opening remains fully present, showing no signs of oxidation, providing further proof of its potential.

La situation des Riames

Above the hamlet of Melin, at an altitude of 380 m, Les Riames is made up of sloping plots mostly facing south or south-east, with chalk-marl soils and excellent natural irrigation.

The total area of these two plots is barely more than half a hectare (more precisely it is 13.65 “ouvrées”, or 5,841 m²), making it the smallest monopole in the Côte de Beaune as we are the sole owners of these plots.

Nos projets

Staying thankful for the good fortune that has allowed us to be present here and now.

Sharing the love we have for this region.

Helping the vines reach maturity.

And most importantly

Spreading the love for Les Riames to as many people as possible!
